THOMAS KOHL

* born 1960 in Düsseldorf (D), lives and works in Geilnau/Lahn and Düsseldorf. Since studying language and philosophy at the University of Düsseldorf and sculpture and painting at the Düsseldorf Art Academy, his works explore the boundaries between landscape painting and abstraction. In addition to oil paintings, watercolours and drawings, he has also been creating works on glass since 2009, including various large-scale installations for public spaces. The focus is on light and colour phenomena. Seemingly sketchy and fleetingly painted, the pictures are the result of intensive, precise observation. Based on his internationally recognised artistic work, Thomas Kohl realises art in architecture projects and is also involved in teaching assignments at colleges and universities in Germany and abroad.
