ANDREAS HENTRICH
* born 1963 in Wuppertal (Germany), lives and works as a freelance artist, curator, and lecturer in Cologne after completing his apprenticeship as a painting restorer. His botanical image-worlds pursue a quest for the perfect composition in dialogue with the perfect format. Based on photographs, he creates photorealistic views of leafage and objects that play with deliberately irritating blurring. In Giornatas and Alla Prima paintings he creates captivatingly finely executed oil and watercolour paintings on canvas and paper. For each painting, Andreas Hentrich selects a reduced colour spectrum, which he fills with a wealth of nuances. As a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists, he is represented in international galleries and collections.
